How to create a game, step by step

The complete flow to build a game from scratch with the current editor, including the real options each tool offers. Order matters: characters and levels must exist before you can relate them or assign AI to them.

Design the idea

On paper · outside the editor

Before touching the editor, define the game idea, its levels and its characters, and above all the relationships between levels and characters (which character sees which level, who speaks on each level). This upfront design determines which later steps you'll actually need.

Decide now: number of languages, game mode (GPS or free), whether there will be AI, and whether the game is standalone or an instance that reuses another game's content.

Create the game

Games › New game

This is the root record. Everything else (levels, characters, points, AI, diploma) hangs off this game.

Name & introduction
Game name, introduction, description, goals and reward. All multi-language.
Information blocks
Up to 4 extra title + text sections for more information.
Media (carousel)
Cover images/videos. The carousel format is chosen per game.

Unique key & instance
Access key and, optionally, mark the game as an instance of another (inherits its content).
An instance game (instance field ≠ 0) has no content of its own: it shares levels, characters, etc. from the original game. In the editor it only shows Edit and Delete.

Required

Create the characters

Games › Characters

The characters the player can choose. Create them before the relationships and the AI, since both reference them.

Name
Multi-language.
Media 1 and Media 2
Media 1 is the character's icon image; Media 2 is additional media.
Horizontal orientationVertical orientation
Information blocks
Up to 4 title + text sections about the character.
Order
The character's position in the lists.
Status
Controls visibility and whether it is playable.
Hidden, not shownActive, playableView only, shown, not playable
View only: with the View only status the character appears in the lists and its profile, but without the play button. Useful for reference characters.
03
Required

Create the levels

Games › Levels

The playable content. Each level has its challenge, media and scoring.

Title and media
Level title and its media, with its own orientation.

Create the game points

Games › Game points

Score thresholds: they define the ranges/achievements the player sees based on their accumulated score.

Title
Name of the range or achievement. Multi-language.
Points
Score threshold from which it applies.

Text shown when the player reaches that point level.

Relate levels and characters

Games › Levels To Characters

Level × character grid: mark which characters appear in or can access each level. Only needed if you want to restrict characters per level; if every character sees every level, you can skip it.

Requires the levels (step 03) and characters (step 02) to already exist.
06
If required

Game AI assistant

Games › Level AI Assistant

Query AI: the player can ask it questions about the game/level. It is reactive, it only answers when the player asks.

Title and language
Assistant identification and its language.
Character and context
The AI's personality and extra game data it should know.
Image, icon and position
The assistant's on-screen appearance and position.
Status

Per-level character AI

Games › Level AI Characters (AI Agent character)

Interactive and automatic AI: defines which character speaks to the player on each level. The player does not trigger it; it activates on its own as the game runs. It is configured per level + character pair.

Level and character
The pair this AI applies to.
Knowledge
What the AI knows on that level.
Character
The character's personality and way of speaking.
Pop appearance
Chat trigger and when it appears.
Trigger on / offTiming (e.g. mid)Sequence
Status

Needs levels and characters already created. It opens with the game preselected from the editor.

Create the diploma

Games › Game diploma

The diploma the player receives on finishing. You define the record and then the graphic layout over the image.

Name
Identifies the diploma template.
Background image
The diploma background.
Font (TTF) and color
TTF typeface and text color in HEX (RRGGBB).
Data and positions
Values to print and their placement over the image.
Graphics: the graphic-design button opens the visual editor to place the elements over the diploma background.

After creating: management

  • Activate the game: set the status to Active when it's ready; share it with its link or QR.
  • Instances: create an instance to reuse all of this game's content in another edition without duplicating it.
  • Messages (impersonation): from the user panel you can chat as any character, even free ones, with players; the real player keeps the conversation.
  • Copy / paste data: in each editor you can copy a record and paste it as a base to quickly create another.

Order and dependencies

Game (01) → Characters (02) and Levels (03) → Points (04) → Relationships (05) and per-level character AI (07), which depend on levels and characters → AI assistant (06) and Diploma (08) at any time after the game is created.
